Hookaroon or Pickaroon

Hookeroon (sometimes called a Hookaroon or Pickaroon)

We have several pickaroons, hookaroons (or also called hookeroons) at the homestead.  By far, this one is Chuck’s favorite.  This is a 1-1/2 pounder with a 36 inch handle.  Chuck claims that this one is well balanced and the perfect length for his height.  He also feels that the shape of the head helps to “grab” the logs and it releases easier than the tools with the straight metal ends.

Sometimes the simplest tools are the most effective.  This tool is used to drag firewood rounds to the splitter.  As a side, we see this as a safety item for in warmer months when snakes are active.  No more reaching hands into log piles where a copperhead or rattle snake might be lurking.  This tool is also a back saver reducing bending and possible injury.

We cut firewood every week to service our customers so this tool is put to the test!  Highly recommended.
