I use this product to supplement our goat kids. Sav A Caf has been around for many years and is a trusted name in the industry. To date, I have never used it for any species other than goat kids, and I have only used it as a supplement to goats that were also drinking off their mothers. Sometimes when a goat has multiple kids, she is unable to nurse all the kids effectively and that is where I add nutrition by using this product.

The milk powder mixes well with warm water and doesn’t have a chalky appearance. I dislike products that don’t mix well, but the Sav A Caf has a nice smooth milky appearance. It is easily administered to the kid by a bottle. (I use the Pritchard nipples and this product doesn’t clog). I have never had a goat kid refuse the mixture, so I’m guessing it’s kid approved!

It does not appear to have Vitamins B and C which I don’t worry about as much when it’s supplementing the mother’s milk, but if you have a kid that is solely feeding from milk replacer, you may want to check out my blog on bottle feeding. A young goat gets these two vitamins from the mother the first couple of weeks of life while its rumen is developing. Just something to consider for the health of your kids.
