It’s a chilly morning in the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania. Grab your cup of coffee and come along for a quick tour of our wood yard. We are a small producer of firewood and rough cut lumber. We also do building and woodworking which we’ll save for another day.

Our wood business is one of the several revenue streams we have at our homestead. To be an operating homestead you need to have multiple streams of income. In our sparsely populated area, it is necessary to wear many hats in order to survive. It is also necessary to make your tasks as streamlined as you can as there is always so much to do.

It’s a simple setup, and we continue to work hard to improve it. Hope you enjoy the tour!

Yesterday we were fortunate enough to go to an event in Stewartstown, PA. It was organized by Ken Anderson at York Firewood. York Firewood is also here on YouTube, so go check him out.

Ken organized the event with H.O.P.E. Ken put out the word to the firewood guys in the area to all meet at the H.O.P.E. organization to split some wood. Firewood is sold by the H.O.P.E. organization to support their mission.

The H.O.P.E. mission “is a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization founded in 1994 and is dedicated to providing high quality, hands-on and heartfelt assistance and support to cancer patients and their families”. From what we saw and heard, they do great work. The staff was wonderful and the facility is beautiful. So please, check them out. If you know someone that needs help or if you can help, please contact H.O.P.E.

This was our first time meeting Ken and the other guys. Several other YouTubers showed up, too. Guys showed up from up to 5 and a half hours away. The generosity of sharing equipment, time, stories, and laughs was a great experience. Kind of like an old-fashioned barn raising where all involved served an end goal.

We were really impressed with all the YouTubers. These guys are the real deal… hard working, give it their all, stand up kind of guys. Big shout outs to:
